Foam mattresses, on the other hand, have been gaining popularity within the last several years, as technology has become more advanced and research from studies have become more wide spread. On a whole, foam mattresses provide more support for the sleeper and provide more support for the body overall. Foam mattress provide a better sleep experience because the foam supports the body and relieves pressure points. The foam also absorbs shock and movement, so the movement of one person on the bed does not disturb the other person. Foam mattresses also have a longer life but are more costly to maintain.
The truth is that quality sleep is essential. Even though you might believe that getting a low cost mattress is better than not having one, you should know that you are wrong. You will sleep better on the floor than on a lumpy mattress or one that is simply too soft. Make sure that you take the time to compare the various kinds of mattresses you can choose from and see which of them will offer you the best possible advantages.
Many chemicals used in the production of most mattresses have harmful consequences. During manufacture, some affect the health of factory workers, and others are discharged into eco-systems around the plant. While a mattress is in use, off-gassing chemicals known as VOCs affect sleepers' health in known and unknown ways. Increasing evidence indicates that chemical flame retardants contribute to the development of brain disorders in children and increase cancer risk. When discarded, most mattresses are dumped into landfills or incinerated, introducing toxins into the water and the air.
Companies make such a big deal about the edges of mattresses. Restonic uses 'Super Edge Plus Technology' to ensure a firm edge; Sealy uses 'Unicased Edge Design'; and Serta uses 'Advanced Encasement Design'. What each of these manufacturers is trying to tell you is that they all use a piece of high density foam wrapped round the edge of the mattress to encase the springs - that's it and nothing more.
